Hello, This page is where I tell you About me and what makes me a dynamic and passionate antenatal teacher!
I’m Michelle Howse, antenatal teacher, secondary school teacher and midwife, I was until 2013, Named Midwife for Safeguarding in a local NHS Trust. I hope that you will enjoy browsing my website- I offer a wide range of antenatal classes and services to help you to prepare for the birth of your baby and to enjoy being new parents. My classes provide high quality private parent education and I am happy to offer sessions in your home (Telford, Shropshire, South Staffs and Wolverhampton) or you could join one of my small antenatal classes in Shifnal, Hypnobirthing and Infant massage classes are exclusively taught in your own home.
My group classes are in small friendly groups where you will have time to discuss the topics you would like to explore in relaxed surroundings in the knowledge that I am an expert in pregnancy and birth. I undertook the Prospect course “Leading Antenatal Classes” in 1992 and this was a turning point in my career-I discovered a love of imparting information and facilitating parents decision making for themselves and their baby, this led me to teach labour relaxation and active birth techniques I am qualified to teach Hynobirthing, baby massage and offer UNICEF Baby Friendly breastfeeding support. I am passionate about empowering parents, I formed my company “Our Baby” so that I can guarantee an excellent service-read more about me.
I qualified as a nurse in 1983 and as a midwife in 1987. I have experience in all aspects of midwifery and have many years’ experience in providing NHS antenatal education classes for expectant parents, professional training to health care practitioners and teaching childcare and health and social care in schools and colleges. I qualified as a health visitor in 2004 and as a teacher in 2006.
My husband David and I have two grown up children, our daughter was born in hospital following induction of labour and our son was born at home 6 years later so we have personal experience of high and low intervention pregnancy and birth, the challenges of decision making that both bring and the joy of giving birth to and nurturing a child. I enjoy reading-anything and everything! All things Spanish-particularly the food and love yoga and dance.
I look forward to meeting you in one of my classes Michelle Howse MA Ed, BSc (Hons), PGCE, RM, RN, Nursing and Midwifery Council (81A2302E), Royal College of Midwives, member of FEDANT
